Het nieuwe hormoon <em>\u2018\u2019Betatrophin\u2019\u2019<\/em> genoemd, zorgt voor de groei van b\u00e8tacellen in de alvleesklier. B\u00e8tacellen zorgen voor de productie van insuline. Dit nieuwe hormoon is ontdekt bij muizen. Onderzoekers denken dat deze resultaten ook toepasbaar zijn bij mensen.<\/p>\n<p><em>Doug Meltond<\/em> uit Harvard denkt dat injecties met <em>Betatrophin<\/em> \u00e9\u00e9n keer per maand of zelfs \u00e9\u00e9n keer per jaar zorgt voor genoeg activiteit in de alvleesklier bij mensen met Type 2 Diabetes. Hij denkt dat deze vorm van injecties voor minder complicaties zal zorgen, aangezien het lichaam nu zelf de insuline maakt. De cellen worden alleen wat aangemoedigd. Hij hoopt dat injecties met <em>Betatrophin<\/em> ook zal werken bij mensen met Type 1 Diabetes.
