Het vaccin bleek effectief. <\/p>\n<p>De vaccinatie zorgde in de studie voor een vermindering van het aantal cellen dat het immuunsysteem aanvalt, de zogenoemde \u2018 killer cellen\u2019. Deze \u2018killer cellen\u2019 vallen de insuline producerende cellen aan, waardoor deze cellen geen insuline meer aanmaken.
