Bij reguliere transplantatie van alvleesklierweefselweefsel is nogal wat uitval, mede doordat het transplantaat in het begin nog geen aansluiting heeft op de bloedvaten van de ontvanger. Technion heeft nu een kunstmatige matrix ontwikkeld en die bezet met eilandjes van Langerhans en diverse celtypen van mensen en muizen die vorming van bloedvaatjes stimuleren.
