Ze richtten zich daarbij op VMAT2, een eiwit in de celmembraan dat betrokken is bij het vrijkomen van neurotransmitters \u00e9n insuline. <br \/><\/p>\n<p>Ze maakten de activiteit van VMAT2 zichtbaar met een radioactieve tracer en kwamen tot de conclusie dat de binding van de tracer bij mensen met type 1 diabetes in de onderzoeksgroep met 40% gereduceerd werd.
