De Harvard Medical School ontwierp een techniek waarbij gebruik wordt gemaakt van magnetische nanodeeltjes die zichtbaar worden op een MRI scan. De nanodeeltjes zijn zodanig ontworpendat ze terecht komen in delen van het lichaam waar een ontsteking, dus immuunreactie gaande is.
