Mensen kunnen deze vorm van insuline inhaleren via een inhalator-systeem, in plaats van spuiten. Als de FDA het advies van de commissie overneemt kunnen er weer stappen worden gezet waardoor insuline spuiten misschien wel tot het verleden gaat behoren.<\/p>\n<p>Het product met de naam Afrezza, van de MannKind corporatie, roept nog wel veel kritiek op. Zo heeft eerder onderzoek naar Afrezza aangetoond dat mensen die het product gebruiken mogelijk een groter risico op longkanker hebben. MannKind heeft aangegeven hier meer onderzoek naar te willen doen als de FDA het product goedkeurgt.
